Terry McNemar
We at West Virginia Writers are saddened to report the passing of former president Terry McNemar, shortly after midnight on August 27. You can read his official obituary HERE.
Terry, who was WVW president from 2008-2010, was a great friend of the writers of West Virginia and Appalachia even beyond his office. He was a fixture at organizational appearances and events, but was often found at non-WVW functions and writers groups.
A prolific short story writer and poet, his work often won awards in the West Virginia Writers annual writing contest, often in the humor category. He published a novel entitled Ragdoll Angel, as well as an ebook of short fiction entitled So This is Christmas.
For 30 years, Terry was the owner of McNemar Construction. A skilled carpenter, his woodwork graces hundreds of homes throughout northern West Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, and his two daughters Molly Feldman, of Lexington, KY, and Mady McNemar, of Hattiesburg, MS.
His funeral visitation will be Sunday, August 30th, 2015, 3:00pm - 8:00pm, at the Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, WV. The funeral service will be
Monday, Aug. 31, 11:00 am, also at Burnside Funeral Home.
At the family's request: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the T.W. McNemar Memorial Scholarship Fund through the West Virginia Writers. If you would like to donate, make checks payable to WVW, Inc., with "T.W. McNemar Memorial Scholarship Fund" in the memo line. You can send your checks to our treasurer, Jessica Murphy at 807-1 Alpine Street Morgantown, WV 26508. You may also donate via Pal Pal at the link below.
His counsel and wisdom will be missed within the organization, but his friendship will be missed the most.
