West Virginia Writers, Inc.Now celebrating our 41st anniversary year, West Virginia Writers, Inc. is the  largest all-volunteer, writers' resource and service organization serving literary interests in West Virginia.

We are founded on the fundamental principle that the written word is one of the most distinguishing characteristics of all human endeavors.  Our aim is to expand and develop creative writing and professional opportunities for writers and to connect the state's writers with others in the literary community and the public at large.

WV Writers sponsors both an annual writers conference and an annual writing competition.

The winners of the 2018 WVW Writing Contests were revealed at the West Virginia Writers 2018 Summer Conference at Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley, W.Va.

The winners list can be found at the following link...

The easiest way is to join. We send out information to our members about the conference via our newsletter and by email. However, the other easy way is to just check this website around March. We post news about both our conference and our contest there and update it as the conference approaches. The conference is always held the second weekend of June. We also always take walk-in registrants, so pre-registering is not vital to attending.

I am interested in the fall conference, but would like to know who the presenters are and what the workshops will be about.

Just updated the page with that info. Among the presenters are Marie Manilla for plot, Cat Pleska for nonfiction, Michelle James for periodical writing, Sandy Tritt on developing characters, Don Stansberry for young adult, Laura Treacy Bentley for poetry, and A.J. DeLauder for playwriting.
